"Supporting the Fighters, Inspired by the Survivors, Celebrating the Lives that have Passed, Never giving up Hope and Always having Faith"
Today is the Susan G. Koman 'Race for the Cure', which I have participated in the past by walking for Breast Cancer Awareness. Last week Sunday had officially made my 3 month anniversary since I joined a run club. Accomplishing what started out as speed walking to 2 min. run/1 min. walk to running at my pace, and shedding some pounds throughout the process. I have decided to celebrate what I have accomplished in 3 months, I will not walk the 5k, I am going to run it :) this year and joined the Mount Sinai Hospital team as well.
Yep, I am treating myself to do my first 5K run for one of the causes I am passionate about. Thanks to coach Kenley and coach Angela, I am familiar with running the route enough times since it has been part of the run club's workout/training. It's time for me to work through those hesitations and go for it.

Just Did It!!
"Every run can bring you pleasure--if you train your brain to think that way"
~Be a Happy Runner via Runner's World
Dealing with my asthma throughout the winter, has been an unpleasant roller coaster and rough on me physically. Spring has arrived, summer concerts have started, and this past Tuesday walking through Central Park, I serendipitously found a run club for FREE!, YAY ME!!! :)
With excitement, I picked up my new Nike's the next day, signed up on Thursday and this morning was the official 're-newed' journey towards living a full healthy lifestyle.
This morning's route began at 9am: West Side Highway, from E. 57th, head to the WSH via 59th St. towards the sanitation depot at 59th & WSH, turnaround and retrace route back to E. 57th. I started out doing a run/walk but ended up speed walking the rest of the way back, the most important thing was I completed the 4mi. route at my pace and the patience of the pacers.
I am ready to "temporarily" hang-up my heels for my new pair of NIKE 'Pegasus' sneakers with the focus on weight loss, no longer dealing with my bronchial-asthma and becoming a bigger advocate for women's health issues especially concerning the heart.
Cheers to me and my new journey of life-long health & wholeness!
